The history of the miniature-schnauzer

This breed has a bit difficult history,wich also has been discussed.The Schnazer`s parents can be tracked back to 1500 century,when the schnauzers in the actual breed can be seen on every print.First time,in the year 1886,they wrote about the schnauzer because someone claimed that the schnauzer was a mix between puddle and mops.Later someone claimed that the schnauzer is a pincher with harsh coat,-a mix between a pointer and bolognese.For a long time the difference between pincher and schnauzer were fluidly.The schnauzer was seen as the same breed,but with differences with it`s coat.About 1903 the breed was approved,and in 1907 Germany started up the first Schnauzer Breed Club for schnauzer-owners.It is from this time they sorted out the work on this breed.It is many oppinions where the name schnauzer comes from,but noone really knows for sure.Schnauzer and miniature-schnauzer are very popular as company- and showdogs all over the world.

The schnauzer was used to hunt rats.That`s why the breed has their eyebrows and beard.One example:Since the rat couldn`t see the dogs eyes,it couldn`t attack that part of the dog!

There are three types of schnauzers:Rieasenschnauzer,schnauzer and miniature-schnauzer.Today there are 4 colours of the breed that is approved:black,black/silver,salt/pepper and white.

The miniature-schnauzer is an active dog,in alert,persevering and undaunted,and work very well as a guard- and familydog.It is a good companion in walks as well in the mountains,and is very comfortable with activities as obidience and agility.This is a small dog with a big personality!

The miniature-schnauzer is a schnauzer without the typical look of a dwarf.

At FCI the miniature-schnauzer has been placed in Group 2.
